Le Claouzet is a 17th Century fortified farm set in beautiful rolling countryside
above the pretty Cerou Valley. It is in a secluded but not isolated situation
on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Suech, and only 4 kms from the medieval village
of Monesties which has restaurants, post office, mini supermarket, tabac and bakers.
Originally
constructed to defend the community, the farmer and his tenants, the farm was
designed with the barns and houses built around a central courtyard. Many of the
original buildings still remain to provide both our own home and our holiday gîte,
we benefit from a large courtyard, which is now a sunny, tranquil garden. | |
The remaining gardens surround the farm and house the private swimming pool.
We have a large walled kitchen garden where we work to grow our own fruit, salad
and vegetables throughout the year, this area also houses a traditional pigeon
house or Pigeonnier. The orchard area has a variety of fruit trees including figs,
peaches, apricots, nectarines, pears apples and walnuts.
There
are a variety of quiet, shaded areas to sit and eat or just provide escape from
the afternoon sun to read and snooze. |
